ILLINOISAN 2: This community is like a small, close-knit town.
ILLINOISAN 3: When the steel mills closed, it made us feel opportunity for this side of the city was gone.
ILLINOISAN 1: So many people made promises that they were going to do some things.
ILLINOISAN 4: They would say they’re going to rebuild, they’re going to put something new here.
ILLINOISAN 5: They keep giving us false hope.
ILLINOISAN 6: And it never happened.
ILLINOISAN 4: But there came a man by the name of JB Pritzker, and he is changing things.
NEWS ANCHOR 1: News of a very big development on the South Side.
NEWS ANCHOR 2: Long vacant land on the far south side is about to be transformed.
NEWS ANCHOR 3: Big boost for those who live and work in the area.
ILLINOISAN 4: He came here, he visited, he saw what we were dealing with, and he rolled up his sleeve.
ILLINOISAN 1: It’s real. JB is bringing thousands of jobs here.
ILLINOISAN 3: JB said he was going to get this done, and he did it.
ILLINOISAN 7: I feel a sense of pride. JB is making sure they hire people from our neighborhood.
ILLINOISAN 4: We keep on saying jobs, you are creating careers for our children, our grandchildren, maybe even me. Who knows?
