Trump’s DOJ is investigating Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
Newsom announced Monday that federal agents have knocked on the doors of family friends and former employees, demanded records, and dug through years of documents. He is accusing the administration of abusing the grand jury process to target a political opponent. Remember: Trump publicly called for Newsom’s arrest last year. Now, as Newsom weighs a 2028 presidential run, the “investigation” has reached his front door. Newsom’s office filed a public records request for DOJ communications mentioning either of them since the start of the second Trump administration.
The DOJ did not find a crime, so they are TRYING to find one. Letitia James faced a similar investigation earlier this year, and Newsom is now the latest Trump critic to find himself in that position.
